Epirotiki Line's Pegasus - Brief Bio.

Pegasus - Epirotiki Lines ex Sundancer, Svea Corona. 12,537 tons, 502 feet long, 72 feet wide and capable of carrying 1200 passengers. Delivered in 1975 as Svea Corona for Silja Line. Ship had a series of mishaps under various owners, hit rocks and took on significant water, caught fire twice, but did manage to have a successful career. Final Name Ionian Express. On March 29, 1995 she left Greece in tow of breakers in Aliaga, Turkey.

  1. I sailed on this ship in 1989. I had read somewhere that the ship had sunk. Does anyone have any information on this?

  2. Yup, was scuttled in Venice in June of 1991 when it caught fire, and the city ordered it sunk incase it exploded and caused damage to the city.
