Hapag-Lloyd Cruises christened their newest addition to the fleet, the Columbus 2 on April 17, 2012. After a short refit in Barcelona the Columbus 2 was ready for Hapag-Lloyd service. Children and Teen facilities were added to the ship in order to tap in the German Family market.

The Columbus 2 previously sailed for Oceania Cruises and is under a 2 year charter agreement with Hapag-Lloyd. There is an option for an extension on the charter should Hapag-Lloyd decide to utilize the ship longer.

The first cruise sailed from Mallorca to Malta.

The Columbus 2 has 11 decks and 349 cabins. She can  accommodate a maximum of 698 passengers.

The Columbus 2 will offer an upscale cruising experience.
