Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas Encounters Rough Seas
On June 29th, while heading back to New York, the Explorer of the Seas encountered rough seas and strong winds off the coast of New Jersey. The Explorer of the Seas was heading back to Cape Liberty, NJ after 8-days in the Caribbean and Bermuda. Guests were awakened at 3:30 AM, when the ship began to pitch and roll.  Hangers we jiggling in the closets and doors were opening and closing. At 4:30 AM the captain made an announcement advising guests that the ship was encountering rough seas and strong winds. He also advised guests that they should remain inside and not venture out on deck. The Captain further ensured guest that they were not in danger.

A number of severe storms, including strong winds, hail, heavy rain and lightening passed over New Jersey on Friday. The storms were triggered by the extreme heat that the area has been experiencing.

The Explorer of the Seas docked in Bayonne as planned on Saturday morning with no damage or injuries reported.
