Virgin Voyages, a splinter of Richard Branson's Virgin Group, has disclosed the dimensions of its three new buildings. The unique characteristic is that the new ships will be about 20 feet wider than ships of similar length.
“Each ship will weigh about 110,000 gross tons and measure 912 long and 125 feet wide. The ships will house over 2,800 passengers in approximately 1,400 staterooms. In addition, the ship will carry 1,100 crew members. The wider dimensions seem to be driven by the Panama Canal Expansion Project, which will allow wider ships to now transit. The wider dimension also opens the doors for creative design.
The 3 ships are due for delivery from Italy's Fincantieri's Sestri Ponente shipyard in 2020, 2021 and 2022,
