NTSB Announces Root Cause of Carnival Pride Contact With Pier.

Carnival Cruises Carnival Pride Comes in Contact with Baltimore Pier Damaging Facilities.

On May 8, 2016, Carnival Cruises' Carnival Pride collided with its Baltimore Maryland pier, causing damage to the elevated passenger boarding walkway and destroying 3 cars.

The National Transportation Safety Board said the root cause of the accident was excessive speed and the ship approaching the pier at too steep an angle causing the bow to come in contact with the land-side structure. The damage was estimated to be approximately $2 Million dollars to South Locust Point Cruise Terminal.

The ship was under the command of the captain and sustained damage to the hull observation mooring platform which extends out from the ship's bow.
