Italy's Fincantieri Proposing to Purchase Majority Share in France's STX>

Fincantieri has confirmed it has signed a share purchase agreement for the acquisition of 66.66 percent of the share capital of STX France from its current shareholder STX Europe.
The agreement entails a purchase price of euro 79.5 million, according to a statement, and Fincantieri said it is still working on a deal with the French State for the finalization of the shareholder's agreement.

This would give the Italian Shipyard a deeper foothold into the cruise ship construction business now owning the Saint Nazaire Shipyard which has a long history of constructing classic ocean liners and more recently many ships of the MSC fleet, the Queen Mary 2, Europa 2 and Harmony of the Seas for Royal Caribbean.
