History Flash Back: The Maiden Voyage of P&O Lines Canberra From Australia to Southampton

SS Canberra was a famous liner in the P&O fleet from 1961 to 1997. She was built at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland at a cost of £17,000,000 and weighed in at 45,000 tons. The Canberra measured 814 feet long and was usually wide for a ship of that length measuring 103 wide.

Great footage of the maiden arrival of P&O Line's Canberra in Sydney Australia from Southampton, England. See great footage of how cruising used to be.  The video dates back to 1961 and at the time the Canberra was one of the largest ships afloat
