Port fo Tampa Fog Delays Ship's Arrival & Departure

Royal Caribbean's Brilliance of the Seas Delayed entering the port of Tampa Due to Fog
Royal Caribbean Brilliance of the Seas On a Sunny, Clear Day.

On 2/4/2019 (This past Monday), The Port of Tampa Florida was temporarily closed due to dense fog. The fog was so thick that the fog caused Holland America's Rotterdam to remain pier side over night - Sunday into Monday and eventually departing mid-afternoon.

Meanwhile Royal Caribbean's Brilliance of the Seas remained idle outside the entrance to Tampa Bay awaiting the lifting of the fog and the departure of Holland America's Rotterdam. Sitting outside the port since 6:00 AM the Brilliance of the Seas was finally cleared to enter the port at 2:30 PM.

Arriving at the pier at about 4:30 PM, Royal Caribbean needed to disembark passengers, clean all the staterooms, load stores, onboard a full complement of cruise passengers and embark the entertainment and their equipment. This sailing of the Brilliance of the Seas cruise was marketed as a "Alternative Rock Cruise" featuring famous rock bands and entertainers.

The Brilliance of the Seas finally departed from Tampa at about 11:59 PM Monday evening.
