|Virgin Voyage New Cruise Ship Scarlet Lady Arrives in Miami for the first time.|
On March 7, 2020, Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady arrived in Miami for the first time. The Scarlet Lady has 17 decks, a length of 909 feet, a draft of 26.4 feet, and a beam of 135 ft. The 110,000 ton ship is fresh from her builders – Fincantieri Shipyard, Italy. The ship sailed down the Miami channel, entered the turning basin and docked at the first wharf ( wharf closest to Miami in the cruise ship line up). At around 8:45 PM on 3/7/2020 the Scarlet Lady was moved from first wharf, to a terminal further up – vacated by the Carnival Conquest earlier in the day.
The Scarlet Lady debuted in Europe before coming to the United States. The Scarlet Lady was supposed to make a 7 day public relations stop in New York but that call was cancelled as a precaution to limit the exposure of the passengers and crew to the visiting media, press and visitors as well as those exiting the ship. It should be noted that NO ONE from the ship tested positive for the Coronavirus.
The Scarlet Lady’s naming ceremony and press and media events will continue as planned in Miami prior to her maiden voyage later in the month.
