Here are the newest developments related to the cruise industry and the Coronavirus.

  • Fred Olsen's Braemar has been cleared to dock in Mariel, Cuba on Tuesday morning, 3/17/20. The ship and her 682 passengers will hopefully be cleared and able to fly home to the UK. As you know, this ship did have passengers and crew that tested positive for the virus but no port would allow the ship to dock. The ship spent over 1 week off the Bahamas - seeking a port and loading supplies.
  • San Juan Puerto Rico turned away the Celebrity Summit from docking in the island nation. There were no confirmed cases of the virus on board - but the ship was still denied access and passengers remain on board. 
  • Bahamas Paradise Cruises decide to suspend operations until April 10, 2020. the Grand Celebration is currently docked in Palm Beach, Florida. Bahamas Paradise Cruises second ship - the Grand Classica remains idle in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island due to a drop in traffic after the devastation of Freeport from the hurricane late last year. 
  • American Queen Steamboat Company (AQSC) announced on Saturday that it will immediately suspend operations across all ships and will resume service on April 12. The decision was made following wide-spread governmental restrictions across ports, cities and public institutions.
